I am able to burn dvd's but not cd's, my cd/dvd drive is samsung IDE TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS-H552D, i tried toast, disco, disk utility none worked, when i click burn it says finishing burning session then the cd pops out blank... nothing written on it
I'm guessing thats a sata drive.
did you try in widows? or with another cd type (mark)? worked before of this problem?
it's an IDE drive... but in system profiler it's show as SATA like my hdd which is IDE

I have the same problem. With rev 2 I am now able to view cd/dvds but I am unable to burn no matter what program I use. I have "LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S".
It's a 'problem' with the nforceata kext, that is if you use nforce...
yes, i believe so. Is there a way to fix this?

edit: i'm going to add a normal cd-rw drive to see if it works |
Guy's, even I can't successfully burn CDs/DVDs in MacOSX using Disk Utility. I always get an error. =( That's the only issue I haven't really been that concerned about since I've burned files using Windows XP in Parallels.
Burning will not work till MeDevil (the maker of the kext) updates his kext too support sata burning, so give it time, be happy to read cd/dvd's :)
lol.. i dont have nforce chipset :)) i have the ati sb400 chipset and i don't have sata :)
I've got an NF570 board with Sata HD's and an IDE burner. No problems here with any of those aforementioned apps. I've ripped and burnt plenty of CDs and DVDs with no errors what so ever.

Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe: Any luck with this motherboard. I still cant burn cds/dvds could i possibly be doing something wrong? Please help, this is the only thing keeping me from using Mac os X
I have the same drive as the OP and i confirm CD/DVD Burning Reading/ Writing / Erasing of Rewritable work perfect for me.
this sucks, this is the only thing preventing me from using it 100%

oh man! I feel good now because it was not only me who has this problem. I did try to burn 3 DL-DVD with my Toast Titanium 9.0.2 with two different DVD drivers
but every time it will crash at 74% or 82% and it will show me a Message that I need to restart my Leopard. I can burn with windows vista using Nero with out any problem just with Leopard... I have two IDE DVD Drives and one SATA. |
Ha your lucky that you at least got to like 74% or what ever. Mine it would start saying its going to record the first sector or something, then say finish, then say burn failed, without even putting anything on the disk at all. Ill stick with windows for a while til they can fix this cause im not going to go buy a ide dvd-rw

I just want to know one thing! my or our error burning DVDs from hardware fail or software? if Software thats mean some one can do it but if its HW I don't know what we can do!!!!
From what I understand its a driver issue. Because as I remembered every software I tried recognized my dvdrw it just wouldnt burn anything. So I am going to guess that its a driver (but still possible a software) issue. I keep hearing wait for MeDevil to release a new Kext for NForce motherboards. Its funny because Rev.1 didnt work with my drive (it saw it but couldnt read anything) and Rev. 2 can see and read, but it cant write. Im wondering if I have to wait for Rev. 3 before I can burn cds and dvds.
oh man! I never brun CD for over a year now. they even make any CDs? ;D I will burn with windows untill we find sow how to burn from Leopard..
Are there any new kext available or ones I can test?
