Ok I have been messing with this for a couple days, have tested it some and would like to get some more people to test it.
This will grab your cpu info and put it in your "About this Mac" this of course will be included as an install option on my next release if it works ok for people. See post below for updated link. |
Works fine here, Eddie :-D
|
Works fine here eddie11c
Good work buddy :) Thank you |
works here too

Hello there, i installed this, now what.. i checked about this mac and just shows same as before....
|
What did it say before?
|
Oh this only works for English as of now too, almost forgot that!
Updated the link for a minor improvement. |
Ok here is the new version that includes support for all languages! Give it a try and report back please.
edit--link in last post |
work really well
thanks for the upadate |
I concur, works fine here too.
|
It works, but doesn't give me the proper processor speed. And it looks like the correct memory settings are showing. Its not 100 MHz, its 400 rather. =) Thats my feedback. Hope this helps.
|
Thank you Eddie!!!
It worked in Japanese. see attached picture. |
ok alittle problem here
after i installed this it deleted my account all my files were still there it just took me off the account list i had to enable the root account just to get to the desktop and than make a new account and point it to the old folders weird |
It does nothing with your account, these files are located in /System/Library/CoreServices/Resources, far away from any important account files. I will have to chalk this up as coincidence, as you do not even need to restart or logout for the changes to take effect.
admkazuya if you could try this new link, I fixed the tm issue for your processor. http://www.mediafire.com/?429xddziskv |
hmmm wonder why account disappear
this is the only thing that i have installed the past few days o well it is fixed now and thanks for the installer it still works great |
|
My memory still doesn't correctly detect as 400 MHz
|
The memory is detected elsewhere via AppleSMBIOS not from this. This is only for the CPU.
|
Install the new mac nub smbios for mobos with ddr 400!
|
works here Eddie thanks good job :-)
|

Works fine for me, great work. But if I see the pics I notice that the text lines get very long. Could you add a 'shorten' option that removes 'Processor' and 'Dual Core Processor' ? 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3700+ -> will be 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon™ 64 3700+ 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ -> will be 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 4400+ Especcially for the X2 owners this could be useful. How about a patch that replaces the CPU manufacturer from 'Intel' to 'AMD'? You can test it in the Activity Monitor. Open the package from Applications/Utilites/Activity Monitor and edit this file: Contents/Resources/<yourlanguage>.lproj/localizable.strings. Search for 'intel' and replace it here /* Name of intel architecture */ "Intel" = " AMD"; I tested various versions 'AMD', 'AMD/x86', 'AMD-x86', 'x86' etc., the best was ' AMD' with two spaces at the beginning. Without spaces it doesn't look good. If you use the spaces it's better and it is centered if there are PowerPC entries, too. For the 64bit name I used ' AMD64', also with two spaces. In the Finder must also be an entry, but I didn't found it yet. The names here should be 'AMD' and 'AMD (64 bit)'. Maybe in the System profiler and in the Console/Crash Reporter are Intel entries. BTW: 'Cause we were talking about Activity Monitor: Drag it in the Dock and start it hidden at login. If you have a program that allows hotkeys (Butler in my case) you can assign Ctrl-Alt-Del (, on the keypad) to it and you could open a task-manager in a way as long time used in Windows. If you set the Dock symbol to 'CPU history', you always have your CPU(s) usage in the view, if its gettin' too much without a reason you can check what's needing it or if a program is hanging. I often use the Activity Monitor. |
Agreed there, does look a little funny being so wide. But hey, nice one all the same!
Cheers Eddie, big thanks |
There are some problems with this method when trying to remove some strings. I will look into it more though, see what I can improve.

Sorry to be suh anoob, but I installed this with no issues. How do I run it ?
