yes. i installed too using kext helper but it gives me error.

It uses AppleServerWorksATA when it founds my HDD i think and then
my hdd starts loading loud (noisy sound)
repeately complaining:

disk0s1: I/O error.
0 [Level 3] [ReadUID 0] [Facility com.apple.system.fs] [ErrType IO] [ErrNo 5] [IOType Read] [PBlkNum 18009984] ILDlkNum
11008] [FSLogMsgID1417703644] [FSLogMsgOrder First]

etc etc i too lazy to write all here :D does anybody ring any bell?

YES! I got it work! xbench diskt test sequential score 106.04 thats good start!
and i think i have try everything.. :( i just change the IDE-cable (not ide port. the whole cable)and it start work! :D

It's now an 80pol-cable now i guess, with the thin cables. Hm, as I used a normal one OSX gave me a message that I'm not using one, I think evven my baord said so.

Hi guys, I too am suffering slow access speeds. Although I have a SATA board I've temporarily disabled it and just running the IDE HD and optical drive which is on a single IDE interface.

From ASP:
Hitachi HDS721616PLAT80:

Capacity: 128 GB
Model: Hitachi HDS721616PLAT80
Revision: P22OA60A
Serial Number: PV2300Z2S27G7F
Removable Media: No
Detachable Drive: No
BSD Name: disk0
Protocol: ATA
Unit Number: 0
Socket Type: Internal
Low Power Polling: No
Mac OS 9 Drivers: No
Partition Map Type: MBR (Master Boot Record)
S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified
Volumes:
Leopard:
Capacity: 128 GB
Available: 98.03 GB
Writable: Yes
File System: Journaled HFS+
BSD Name: disk0s1
Mount Point: /

My xbench Disk test results are:
Disk Test 18.03
Sequential 13.82
Uncached Write 10.55 6.48 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 10.87 6.15 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 25.36 7.42 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 15.84 7.96 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Random 25.90
Uncached Write 15.39 1.63 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Write 19.91 6.37 MB/sec [256K blocks]
Uncached Read 85.38 0.61 MB/sec [4K blocks]
Uncached Read 36.40 6.75 MB/sec [256K blocks]

This gives me a total score of 74.68 when running the whole suite. However, if I disable Disk Test then my overall result sky rockets. Any ideas?

I think the disk speed is what's causing Leopard to feel sluggish particularly when doing disk intensive work.

What's the chipset on your motherboard? Oh... nVidia 570... Does anyone build a .kext for that chipset?

R0GUE 02-01-2008 03:20 PM

Yes it is a 570 board. Even copying data from disk images or burning DVDs causes 'kernel_task' to use almost 100% CPU on both cores.

R0GUE 02-02-2008 02:24 AM

I decided to be brave and install MeDevil's latest AppleNForceATA.kext - much better now!
However, Leopard is only reporting my HD as 128Gb when in fact its 160Gb. ASP and Disk Utility tell me that its 160Gb but the capacity is 128Gb **rubs chin**

do you have a link to new newer AppleNforceATA.kext? Which version is it?
