I've been saving the updates as I create them from ASU... I would update them one at a time instead of a combo update (more stable with less changes for each). Just make sure you are using an EFI or Chameleon bootloader.

AMD 10.5.3

AMD 10.5.4

AMD 10.5.5

and now i am getting wierd lines around my screen, here is a screenshot (in attachments). anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? and should i continue using the packages to upgrade to 10.5.5

does anyone know what's wrong? Is it something to do with my graphics card and it's drivers. I have an nvidia 8600gt 256mb. Also if there is no way to fix this how can I to back to 10.5.2 without reformatting my computer?

Cheers

Does it still have the lines when sizing your resolution to something smaller?

when you look at the system profiler does it show that the graphics are fuly supported... it could be that the video "fix" you applied to get the 8600 to work was undone by the upgrade... This often happens to the Hacintosh computers when upgraded. Not something to worry about.

ok cool. So can you provide me with the 8600 drivers that I need to reinstall. Because I tried to find them but could only find them for 10.5.2. Also can I go all the way to 10.5.5 and apply the new graphics drivers and everything will be good?

to your last question, yes... if you wait until you are fully updated before applying your graphics fix then it will work... (it will at any point in the process up your update but you may need to reapply it multiple times)

why is the gfx fix only for 10.5.2?

i dont know which drivers to install, when i did the initial install i installed the NVinject 0.2.1 and the 10.5.2 Nvidia Kext. Now i am unsure on what drivers to install. do i delete the old NVinject and apply my new NVinject that i downloaded and there are also these other kexts called NVDANV10-50Hal and i also have NVDAResman kexts from what i have read these are also nvidia kext's do i delete all of these and just install the lastest NVinject 0.2.1 drivers?

BTW when i try to change my screen resolution the screen just goes light blue, so i cant change the res and this is what system profiler says about my graphics card:

I use Zeph's Nvidia Universal installer which has NVinject 0.2.1 on it and has worked the best for my 7300GT 256 PCIE so far. look in the WIKI for it... and just install over the top of what you have, but make sure the permissions are set because this doesn't always happen for me. so:
Code:

cd /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo chmod -R 755 * && sudo chown -R root:wheel *

and reboot using the boot flag "-f"

i just use Kext Helper b7, wont that give it the permissions it needs?

i found Zeph's Nvidia Universal Installer on the Leo4All website but in the description it says "this .mpkg contains all NVIDIA kexts from 10.5.2" does that mean i cant use it on 10.5.5?

nfoav8or 10-21-2008 06:37 AM

I'm still using on 10.5.5... it was first presented to us all on the 10.5.2 version of Zeph's DVD installer but that is a starting point. The kexts will work with all of the Leopard versions that I know of.... so far. :-)
