AnV XNU 9.7.0 V1.5

I recently had a lot to do with my life so... no time....
But now I've found the time for the new and improved AnV kernel with extra good memory management and Core i7 optimizations.
Enjoy... http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/sty...fault/wink.gif
Download for the new version (including source):

Legacy AppleIntelClock driver download:

It could be a little while longer when you'll hear from me (unfortunetely).
You'll hear from me in a little while (I'm not done/gone yet...)

maya77 07-03-2009 12:55 AM

Thanks, I'm going to try it and let you know how it works.

maya77 07-03-2009 12:57 AM

Do I need to install IPFirewall.kext ?

What it's used for?

andyvand 07-03-2009 01:03 AM

IPFirewall.kext is the firewall pseudoextension...
It is used for controlling the firewall in the kernel

maya77 07-03-2009 01:27 AM

No luck.

Renamed kernel file to mach_kernel, copied it to system partition root w/replace. Installed System.kext, seatbelt.kext, and IPFirewall.kext using OSXTools. When I reboot and select my Leo partition in Chameleon boot menu it goes to Apple logo screen where it just loads forever.

Reverted to 1.4, all works fine again.

-AMD Opteron 180
-Leopard 10.5.6 retail installed
-10.5.7 Update applied
-Chameleon 2 RC1 used to boot

eMatoS 07-03-2009 04:55 PM

Working great so far in my pc (signature)
I've installed only the kernel and used original system, seatbelt and ipfirewall kexts.
Andy, what's the difference between vanilla and your system.kext??

Thank you very much andy for taking the time to do this.

maya77 07-03-2009 06:16 PM

I don't know why it wont accept new kernel on my system. :-(

I used AnV 1.4 to install and run retail Leopard 10.5.6.

Can it be some conflict with the Chameleon 2 RC1?

SaCleoCheater 07-03-2009 10:15 PM

Great to hear from you Andy!

Kernel works like a charm on my P4 :D

@Andyvand: Mother finally gave in LOL! - OS X FTW! ^_^

diskeeper 07-03-2009 11:10 PM

Same here maya77. Boot stopped on "using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers". The next line should be ACPI?

maya77 07-04-2009 12:03 AM

So AMD + retail Leopard (boot-132 method) + updated kernel = no boot

There must be something which needs to be updated before installing new kernel. But what it can be?

Andy?

diskeeper 07-04-2009 10:22 AM

I tried many ACPI fix, but not helping. :(

Taisto 07-04-2009 12:38 PM

Works fine here. No problems - at least yet :)

milanca 07-04-2009 01:08 PM

I didn't use my AMD box for some time but i tried this kernel yesterday and immediate KP. Similar board to diskeeper's (mine is 790X/SB600).

windsor 07-04-2009 03:18 PM

is works fine here....
but i still can't burn :D

maya77 07-08-2009 03:52 PM

Andy, any update on this?

And be noted that "macmodel" switch does not change info in Terminal.

It says "username-macbook-pro" there. I don't like this.

diskeeper 07-08-2009 04:16 PM

Do you solve the boot issue? How did you do that?

This is completely unneeded. Or at least give us option to set model name to appear everywhere the same.

"system preferences>>sharing" and click the edit button under computer name :D

maya77 07-09-2009 12:33 PM

Great, thanks. :)

This was caused by kernel anyway.

System learned from kernel that I have MacBook, but I don't. :D

This kernel doesn't work for my system.

maya77 07-12-2009 08:31 AM

You are not alone. We are waiting for update but Andy is not here?

Andy, version 1.5.1 to fix this problem?

asdfasdf7 07-17-2009 09:26 PM

Works for me with cpus=1 ...

Works for me with cpus=1 too, but then system uses only one core?

asdfasdf7 07-17-2009 10:30 PM

Yes. Sad, but true.

maya77 07-17-2009 10:43 PM

Andy should fix this.

I miss Voodoo :-(
They have problems with human resources and there is no ETA for Voodoo v2 9.7.0.

maya77 07-18-2009 01:08 AM

UPDATE:

I've found a way to fix this all:
http://www.infinitemac.com/f19/how-t...-pc-efi-t3402/ :)

andyvand 07-24-2009 04:57 PM

I would need some more info on why it gets stuck immediately after booting...
If somebody could build a debugging build (I can't publish for the moment) we could trace it down...
It could have something to do with the new i7 cpu starting procedures...
I'll check it from here and if anybody can test it with a serial debugging console on a debug build... please do... everything is working fine for me...
you can still set the model name with macmodel=MacPro2,1 e.g. or with -nomacmodeloverride boot arguments (to disable it)

windsor 07-24-2009 06:51 PM

dear andy, i have same error (boot stop on "using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers") after i do fresh install my hack, and using this kernel.

i can boot with "cpus=1" boot arg.

Yes... so it must be the new CPU routines...
I'll check the code and keep you guys posted...
Also my new AppleSMBIOS is ready and will soon need testing (+ IOUSBFamily + IOPCIFamily)
I'm currently hospitalized at St.-Kamillus so I can't post much yet...
Keep you guys posted ;)

New version of AnV XNU

I went over the code and found some discrepancies in Intel_startcpu routine.
I corrected the code
Download for the new version (including source):

AMD users please test...

diskeeper 08-09-2009 09:26 AM

Thanks! Working for me on 10.5.8.

andyvand 08-09-2009 07:05 PM
