Hi,
Welcome to InfiniteMac! Enjoy your stay here! It's quite a nice laptop but not OSX's favorite, unfortunately. Graphics isn't supported so no fun running it with software renderer and without acceleration. Wifi also isn't but it can be replaced what isn't the case with intel4500hd video card. Everything else should run ok. Please no torrent links in the posts in the future, as stated in Forum Rules. Thanks. |

So. What do I need to do? Download another .iso? Can I run it without the acceleration? Thank you. |
pick:
Mac OS X 10.6.2 Update Combo, it will install the update together with vanilla kernel (you don't need any other kernel, vanilla will work on C2D's) Chameleon RC3 PCEFI 10.5 , A MUST !! Later you will upgrade it with later Chameleon and thus you'll have no need for UUID fix (but select it now uuid fix as i am not sure if chameleon guys fixed it in rc3 or rxc4) Kernels: none Graphics: none Audio: nothing for now, not sure which one you have and it can be all added later Network: not now Laptop: AppleACPIBatteryManager - might need it VoodooPS2Trackpad - also System: You have ICH-9M. Can you set it in bios to run in AHCI mode? If so, do it. AHCI SATA Fix Extra/Extensions - tick IOATAFamily SATA Fix Extra/Extensions - tick UUID - also select it for now Dsmos - Don't play with devil not to select this little dude :-) Later you could install the latest FakeSMC 2.5 and remove dsmos. That's it. Now you should explore a bit on your own, no fun if i tell you everything ;-) Boot with: -x32 -v |
Ok. I have selected all the info you posted and I got this error:

Yes, dsmos is causing kernel panic on 10.6.2.
Go to netkas site and download fakesmc, the latest.. put it on usb flash, boot with installer dvd and launch terminal and go to System/Library/Extensions cd System/Library/Extensions rm -rf dsmos.kext found what volums is your usb flash drive: ls -la /Volumes for example: Kingston cp -r /Volumes/Kingston/fakesmc.kext /System/Library/Extensions chmod -R 755 fakesmc.kext chown -R root:wheel fakesmc.kext rebuild cache with: kextcache -v 1 -t -m /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions/ |
I got this error when I try to enter the cd.... code:

When you boot from DVD your root path, /System/Library/... will be on the partition you booted from. In this case that is your DVD.
Extensions folder on your HDD will be: /Volumes/~PartitionName/System/Library/Extensions/ list your Volumes to find the partition name where you installed SL. (example) /Volumes/Snow/System/Library/Extensions/ If you can't see your usb drive try with Disk Utility first. Plug it in then try to mount it in Disk Utility. If it won't go burn it on rewritable cd or dvd. Again, pay attention when copying. /Volumes/~CDPartitionName/fakesmc.kext to /Volumes/~HDDPartitionName/... |
