WLAN USB Sticks

Hi guys, can anyone recommend me some WLAN USB sticks which are working on OSx86? A friend needs one... What is the better choice for stability? 54 Mbit or 108 Mbit?

iPC has an RT2500 USB driver that works OOTB with the RT2500 based Linksys USB adapters. Cheap, too.

Can those RT2500 based Linksys USB's connect to secured wifi on mac? I've never been able to get my current wifi solution to connect to a secured wireless network on my hackintosh. And as one of my neighbors is stealing my wifi so I really need one! loti.

naquaada: 802.11G 54Mbit is more prevalent then 802.11G 108Mbit so I would think it is more secure. But do 802.11N stuff work on a hack I wonder?

Not sure, but the package has the Ralink Wireless Utility included, so give it a shot through that.

Hi guys,

Not to start new thread i'll just add what i might need to naquaada's post. Very similar stuff.

I also might need a Wifi USB stick so if you know exact model number please let me know so i can look for one. What i would also like to do is to replace mini-pci-e wifi in the same laptop. Its a pretty nice laptop Intel Core2Duo 2,8Ghz (penryn), 4GB 1066 ddr2, Sata 250 GB hdd, Lan marvell/yukon. The bad thing s wireless 5100AGN, intel, which i don't think is ever going to work. Also gfx is ati hd 3450, no support for it either. There are some rumors about support for ati 34xx serie so i'll just wait for it. Vanilla working great, already tried 10.5.6. As i am in no rush, waiting (and hoping) for gfx support maybe i could start looking for mini PCIe wifi, with nice support, to replace the Intel one. I dont like to have usb sticking out all the time, that's my main reason.

Hello,

i use a Dlink DWL-G122 Revision C.
Drivers can be found on the official Dlink HP , 10.4.x Drivers working perfect for 10.5.6.

The only problem.... from time to time during startup u must disconnect the stick and plugin again to work.

Sitecom USB wireless sticks work perfectly with OSX and using the latest Ralink drivers. I am using the WL608, which uses the RT2870 chipset, and I did had to have to add it to the Info.plist, but this thing is so new it is not even on the Sitecom website yet. You can get it at Mediamarkt and it is very small and costs something like 19 euro.

I didn't need it myself, it was for a friend. We got one with an RTL8187B chip.
