Large file crashes system
My system: 10.5.4 Zeph Darwin 9.4.0
cpu: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Motherboard: MSI K9N SLI Platinum Memory: 4 gig DDR2 Hard Drive: 3 SATA video card: ATI X1950 pro 256 DDR3 memory I was trying to process a video file that is 4 gigs and my system keeps crashing. It seems that when I push past the 2 gig file size I have a stability problem. Not down loading, just processing on my local system. Thanks for any help |
the problem is the 4 gigs of ram
check your BIOS settings for "memory hole remapping" and disable it worked for me. test it and let me know.... |

Hi Jorge. I seem to be having the same problem. I can't find 'Memory Hole Remapping' in my Bios settings. Is it possible it could be under an alternate name? At the moment I am having to limit the total memory to 3GB :( Any help would be appreciated. |
Same thing for me. I had 16Gb RAM in my box with Linux and I keep 2Gb only with Leopard. No problem since then.
iero. |
You can keep 4Gb in and boot with maxmem=3456
3.5Gb is better than 2  |

I have tried with 3.5Gb. Unfortunately that crashes the system too. Only 3Gb has been stable so far. There must be some way I can use all 4Gb :( |
