Voodoo XNU 9.5.0 Kernel in Testing
 

http://rogue.infinitemac.com/pics/xnu-kernel.pngThe XNU-Development team has wasted no time in attempting to bring an up-to-date kernel to non vanilla 10.5.5 users.

Apple has been quick in releasing the 10.5.5 kernel sources, and XNU-dev has been quick in porting it. The 9.5 kernel has been ported and internal testing is going on. The next beta for Voodoo will be based on 9.5 (currently beta 1 is 9.4 based).

Currently an alpha test is in progress. If you are interested in helping, please see the Hardware page for information, and then download the Alpha 9 version of the 9.5 kernel from this page.

Testing Information
Please report all bugs on the Issues page. Also read this post to know how to get cpu id log, and attach it to your bug report. It helps a lot in finding out the problem!

If you cannot boot at all, or the timing is slow, or if it takes a long time to show the GUI (or blue screen), you should try the following options:

AMD specific: -amd -emulateintel (should no longer be needed after alpha8)
You could also give -force64 a try if you want to test 64bit support on AMD - this is very early stage so don't expect it to work!

Everyone: busratio=xx
where xx is your CPU clock multiplier (cpu frequency divided by fsb frequency). The FSB frequency is typically 100, 133, 166, 200, 333 or 400 Mhz.

Bootloader info
You need an EFI bootloader! Chameleon is highly recommended.
Pentium 4 users (and some other CPU users) need updated Chameleon -- dfe boot132 etc. might not work!
The updated Chameleon will be made available on their website when the final Voodoo kernel is released. Currently you must use the busratio bootflag as described above.

Is there a 9.5.0 system.kext also?

i tested the new 9.5.0 XNU kernel...
All seems to be ok except my audio was scratching for about 3 secs and then playing good.
This issue on every kind of sound opening it, even on system sounds like recycle bin's one, after some seconds the sound is ok...
Anyway restored back 9.4.0 XNU's one that work perfectly for me.

you didn't boot with your busratio

to fix sound you have to boot with busratio
like mine is fsb is 200
and my cpu is 2.6GHz
so it would be 2600 divided by 200
for a busratio of 13
so i boot with busratio=13

I can confirm that sound works right if you do that
this will be fix in the future as this is just alpha

How do i get my fsb? i also got 2.6 GHz...

Edit: Nevermind i also got fsb 200, so i got the same ratio...
Edit2: I can also confirm that audio is working good now...

I've also tried 64 bit mode, but it hangs after loading AppleNForceATA. Was not really expecting it to work but it is a beginning :)

I'll try bus ratio soon as possible... and i'll report results.
With cpuz can i find fsb and cpu frequency? i overclocked a little my system so it's not a standard value...

Everythings going fine, but can't boot into 64bits, it locks when loading AppleNForceATA kext.

From a post I read earlier on InsanelyMac, this is because AppleNForceATA is based on AppleVIAATA which is a 32bit based kext. This is also the reason why nForce based systems have difficulty running 4gb of ram.
