Backup to image file?

Anyone know for a good program to backup Leopard partition to a image file?

I used TrueImage on Windows, and would like to have some similar program on Mac, to backup system partition to a compressed file on another partition.

Thanks in advance.

Try Carbon Copy Cloner

Why not Disk Utility. See Naquaada's Disk Utility Post:

One thing to note is that the efi bootloader isn't cloned, you'll have to reinstall chameleon once you've restored.

i second that. using disk-util from boot dvd or different systempartition did work for me.
i used it to restore bricked systems. but afaik it only works with partitions the same size.
concerning bootability i think it ran without need of reinstalling cameleon..

btw: i used acronis before, it did work as well (on ide / mbr config)

No, it only compresses the portion that's actually in use, so the only requirement is that the partition you restore to is large enough to hold the original data when expanded.

Thanks for the info. I'll try with Disk Utility from install DVD.

Thanks Dies... very true. If the image-install doesn't allow you to boot, simply use your DVD to boot into your disk... Then install chameleon. Fast, Easy, Simple. :-)
