Malicious Trojan Virus in pirated iWork
Not that anyone would be using a pirated copy of iWork but this just goes to show that the focus on OSX is growing.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
|
That's with newer torrents that are publicly available.
I got my copy from -----------, of which there is only 1 torrent and it didn't have the trojan. Lets remember to leave the specifics out. ;) -lanceomni |
Im not really trying to warn anyone. Im trying to point out that with more interest in the OS comes more focus from maliciously minded people. Obviously having direct access to apps before they install makes it easy to insert malicious code so Im not saying OSX is weak by any means. Im just saying that OSX is pretty secure because of its design and also because of the use percentage and as this percentage grows so will the likelihood we will start seeing more and more malicious behavior.

An OS is only as secure as it's user base makes it.
Unfortunately, a LOT of Mac users feel like they're immune to these types threats, which means that when the focus of virus/ trojan writers does turn to OS X they will more than likely have a very easy time infecting a LOT of machines. That whole thing about history repeating itself if you don't learn from it. ;) |
How have you been I have not seen you on since november. :)

Pretty good, thanks for asking Lance. I've been lurking here and there... :D

If you are downloading the trial version of iWork directly from Apple then using an "obtained" serial, this will not apply. :)
|
True! ;) !!!!
|
I don't see a link to download the trial.
