gets repeated over and over but leo boots i am just curious as to what it might be, granted i did install it on a VERY old 12gb bigfoot HDD.

Quantum Bigfoot? Cool! I have one of these without case, looks great watching it spinning. But I wouldn't try to install OS X on it.
It may be possible that it's too old and some IDE implementations or hardware specifications are missing.
