kalyway 10.5.2 to 10.5.6 direct comboupdate?

Dear All,
First post. Thanks for the community
I have AMD system, which runs kalyway 10.5.2. Its been pretty stable and i havent found problem as such. (touchwood) running tons of apps luckily no issues.

I want to update to 10.5.6(mostly greed and partially need...for iphone dev)

I am trying to use ASU latest from the sticky. It lists a comboupdate for 10.5.6. would it be safe to go for this directly? Is there any precaustions i need to take (ofcourse other than backing up kexts and data). Any separate steps?
I see somewhere ppl talking about deleting some "power.." kext etc. Not sure. "The seaside place" has a kalyway update for 10.5.3 but it says its only for intel. So just wondering..if somebody can help.

Please help

i hav an intel system, so this could and could not work for u, but i had kaliway 10.5.1, then, i got: voodoo kernel 9.5, Disabler kext, AppleDecrypt kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext and a backup of your actual kext, so u can restore it after apply the ComboUpd.
I run the update, reboot, fix my video, audio kexts by restoring the old ones and everything working.
About deleting AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement, there's a kext for that...

issues issues

I tried the generally tried out method kalyway 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 comboupdate(kalyway)..
It didnt ask for restart but restarted automatically!!! and say what bricked :P

Now i am planning to fresh install of 10.5.2...So need help in updating. Googling gives me options only for updating intel systems not much of AMD :(

This is my plan
1. install 10.5.2 fresh.. (I know there are some issues on networking so..get appropriate Kext and install using OSxtools)
2. Install Marvin's Dont panic...and use it (Is this the right step or i can use AMD patcher?)
3. Now the hardpart of updating to 10.5.6..Ppl is there any really good Guides or steps to follow. I would prefer ASU method. ASU lists only 10.5.6 comboupdate and nothing else.

Please help

Hey nagu, I have an update package that should get your AMD running OSX up to 10.5.5

Check your PM's

kalyway 10.5.2 update

oneshot,

I am also "stuck" on kalyway 10.5.2.

Are you planning to make your update package public? I would certainly be interested in obtaining it.

For anyone who hasn't been blessed with the aforementioned "update package" and has Kalyway 10.5.2 on an AMD...

1. Get the Voodoo kernel and install it using OSX86Tools or a similar utility
2. Get a copy of Disabler.kext and install it using OSX86Tools, Kext Helper, or similar. This stops AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement from running so it can't brick your system.
3. (OOPS forgot this part *facepalm*) Update your EFI to one that supports a DSDT patcher. Obtain a DSDT patcher and run it. Place the file it creates in the root folder of the drive your installation resides on.
4. Download and install the Combo 10.5.6 update using Zephyroth's ASU app.
5. Cross your fingers and let it reboot two or three times. It should now be fully updated and working properly. Just reinstall any hardware kexts you have, and you're all set EXCEPT for one thing...get a copy of seatbelt.kext 10.5.5 and install it, or you won't be able to mount disk images without getting a KP.

If this works iīm impressed. Updating from my lawless 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 did not work so far.
- 2. Isnīt Voodoo blacklisting AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement automaticly?
- 3. Voodoo readme says marvinAMDpatcher wont work with Voodoo, isnīt Zephs updater based on Marvin?
- 4. Yeah, letting it reboot more than once without fretting requires experience and patience.

Having read this i just might try another attempt at updating my test clone system ;)

Yeah, that's pretty much how mine went. And no, Zeph's updater is unrelated to Marvin's utility.

HOWEVER I did forget about the DSDT patcher. Post corrected. *facepalm* Sorry.
