Volume Icon

I installed the newest version of iPC Leopard (the DL one). Everything is working smoothly so far except there is one minor bug I have encountered. The Volume icon in the menu is missing. I checked in Sound under Preferences and it does show that the show icon in menu is selected. But its not showing on my desktop. Any idea on how I can fix this?

Are you using an AMD machine with Voodoo kernel?

Go to this folder: Mac HD/System/Library/CoreServices
Right click on SystemUIServer - Show package contents
Go to Contents/MacOS
Backup the old SystemUIServer, unzip and copy the attached file
Reboot

Thanks diskeeper. Will give that a try. Yes I have an AMD machine with Voodoo 9.5.0 kernel.

As long as the topic of this thread is about the volume icon, I have a little querk I'd like to find a solution to (if its all possible that is). Ever since my switch to 10.5 (Leopard) up to the latest iPC fresh install 10.5.6, the volume on my icon always boot at half. Now I've come to live with this, but I would like to know if anybosy else have this querk and have they found a solution.

Mine has always been doing that ever since I started using Leopard (different builds).

diskeeper, I replaced the file but still no luck with the icon showing up.

One thing I noticed is that on the toolbar where the volume icon is suppose to be, there is just an empty space. The icon itself is not visible. As soon as I uncheck the "show volume in menu bar" option in Sound, that space disappears.

diskeeper, I got it work by replacing that file. I had to replace it through safe mode though.

Sorry, i forgot that, yeah use safe mode or boot another install if exist.

There is something wrong with the built in decrypter in the Voodoo kernel, this is a decrypted file from 10.5.6 Retail with Marvin's AMD Utility.

Bad news diskeeper. Replacing that file no longer works. I did another clean install after doing a zero data erase on the drive and after replacing the file, I get kernel panic during startup. The dock loads just fine but as soon as the menu bar comes up, I get the kernel panic. Any ideas what else I can do?

Which version do You use? 10.5.6? What's your hardware specs? Try a clean install and run Marvin's AMD utility yourself at the Core Services folder.

I am using the 10.5.6 DL version that iPC released. I did do a clean install but its not even letting me get to that point where I wouuld be able to run Marvin's utility. I have downloaded the single layer version of 10.5.6 and will give that a try first.

I tried running Marvin's utility but the computer just freezes when I open it.
