drive partitioning for osx86 ipc distro
hi all,
i have an acer aspire 5730 with two partitions -- c: with vista on it and a d: data partition. both are formatted ntfs. what i'd like to do is put osx on the second (data) partition and have dual-boot between vista and osx, but be able to format the second partition as hfs+ without fubaring my vista partition. is there a way to do this? i ran leopard setup and within disk utility, any options to manipulate the second partion are greyed out. any help is appreciated. syd |
isn't there an option to erase that partition???
|
No..
Nope. The individual partitions are greyed out. My only option is to erase and re(format/partition) the entire drive, which I'd like to avoid if possible. Does it have to do with my formerly using Wubi so I could run Ubuntu on that second partition? I uninstalled Wubi before attempting to load OSX.

get an Ubuntu livecd and use gparted to erase that partition, and format it like FAT32 or hfs if you can, and then try again with leopard disk

Try to format second partition with FAT system using Vista or Ubuntu Live CD or else. NTFS partitions created by Vista are sometimes "locked" - dunno why.
Edit : @Eric, seems that you responded in the same time as me ;) |
