Quicktime and iLife '09 destroy 10.5.6

Hi all,

I'm having some strange trouble with my iatkos v5i install. It's great and essentially perfect, I can update to 10.5.6 with no trouble and have a very stable system. Problem is, Quicktime and iLife (seems to be just Apple products?) bork my install entirely. I cannot boot even into safe mode.

That's the error I get. It seems to be IO or USB related. Why would these programs alter these files when even the 10.5.6 update doesn't? And how can I prevent this from happening? If anyone's seen this problem before, I'd love some advice. Thank you!!

itakos v5i Upgraded to 10.5.6
Intel Core2Duo 6750 @ stock speed
nforce 650i mobo
4gb ram (maxmem tags used, no luck)

Thoes updates can't do that (or shouldn't), probably the kext cache was cleaned and rebuild incorrectly, perhaps you are suffering from a kext corruption but as it was booting from the cache you never noticed that problem. Just some ideas you may check.

To rebuild caches you can use your install disk and delete extensions.mkext or insert -f into darwin's prompt. You may also try restoring iousbmassstorageclass and iousbfamily kexts.
