I hurt-I genuinely hurt!
newbie here so be gentle!
I'm desparate to install Leopard on my desktop! I tried with iAtkos v1.0i but couldn't get anywhere with it! Tried the iAtkos 5I and it 'seemed' to have worked - I got up to the 'Installation Complete' screen but when it resets after this it doesn't boot into the OS. I've tried a few options in terms of the 'customize' screen but to be honest I have no idea! Would REALLY appreciate any help whatsoever. Tell me what you need to know and I can tell you what you need to know. In terms of hardware - I'm running a Prescott P4 on an ASRock board. I'm not too bad with IT but I'm genuinely out of my depth here but hate giving up! So many thanks in advance! |
Welcome to our forum, enjoy you stay! :D
To help you we need some more information about your system. That means mainboard, cpu, gfx card. Best add it to your signature. |
Thanks for that!
I can't quite remember what the exact spec is so will install Ubuntu so I can get some details. Thanks again! |
Here is the info I got from Ubuntu
3.2 Prescott LGA 775 ATI Radeaon X550 Sapphire 128mb PCI-E 2gb generic RAM Foxconn P9657AA-8KS2H |
Just use iPC 10.5.6, it's a great distro and easy
|
Thanks newbmac
What selections in the customize screen will i need to make with this distro? |

The ones for your computer setup. It's all documented in the installer. For example, if you have a Core 2 Duo CPU, you can use the "vanilla" kernel. If you have a Pentium 4 or Pentium D or AMD chip, you need to use the Voodoo kernel option. Good luck. |
So is it more 'obvious' what I need to choose with this version?
Thanks for the help! |

One other small tip, make sure you select during the install seatbelt.kext ONLY if you use the voodoo kernel. Good Luck! |
Thanks for the tip!
Think it's this kernel business I need to research! |
