Hello Guys,
Is it possible to run Vanilla kernel under AMD? I have EFI v8 + GUID running. Boot ROM still says Hackintosh - is this normal? Thanks in advance - great forum by the way. |
Hello!
EFI+GUID yes, Vanilla Kernel no at the moment... |
Thanks roisoft !
That clears up some confusion on my part. Going home early from work to install my new 8600GT 512MB card...hope it works with Dev ID and Vendor ID. I will post results later this evening EST. |
Your card is supported. Just use the installer I've made. It's on the wiki.

What is the advantage of this?
And is there a 64bit kernel out yet? Thx lads |
Did i get it right?
I know vanilla kernels from the linux community. Vanilla means that nothing is altered or added to a kernel, itīs byte by byte the same as the official kernel releaser gave it out. So, by our means itīs a kernel released by apple for use on intel genuine macs. The intel osx86 community has it easier since they donīt need patched kernels for amd instruction set but they used to need patching concerning the communication with efi vanilla kernels do. Since someone figured out how to implement intel on top of bios efi for booting vanilla kernels they donīt eed to patch anymore. They can straight install apple updates with no worries the system wonīt boot anymore. |
There are not a 64 bit kernel for the AMD systems at the moment...but in a future... who knows?

What does GUID and EFI do for me if i wanted to install it?
Does that make it any faster or anything? |
Didn't notice this thread, but will I be able to use REFIT boot tool after installing the efi?
|
Is there a guide on how to install EFI on a AMD hackintosh?
