Can't burn with SATA or IDE
I installed iPC 10.5.6 on my system the other day, but I can't burn CDs or DVDs. With my SATA burner, the blank disc is recognized and shows up on the desktop, but I always get an error that says that the OS can't connect with the drive. When I use an IDE burner, the disc is not recognized and never shows up. Also, with the IDE, I can't even play CDs or DVDs. I'm using an IDE hard drive, and I've set it to slave while the burner is the master, and vice versa. Does anyone know how to fix this problem so I can burn discs? Thanks!
EDIT: Here are my specs. I don't know why they're not showing up in my signature. Asus A8N5X | AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ | 4 x 512MB Corsair Value RAM DDR 400 | Nvidia GeForce 7600GT | Lite-On DVD-RW | Hitachi Deskstar 80GB | Antec Sonata II | Antec EarthWatts 380W | Mac OS X |
weird
Strange..
you could try my hacked IOATAFamily... http://rapidshare.com/files/23413884...amily.kext.zip |
I installed the kext, but it didn't do anything. The computer still doesn't recognize I have a disc in the drive. Disk Utility doesn't even recognize that I have a DVD drive connected. I still can't burn, but thanks anyway! I appreciate it.

anyone else?

AFAIK, the existing NForce drivers don't allow SATA burning.... i'm surprised you are having problems with IDE though - have you tried the most recent AppleNforceATA found here?.

Try medevils AppleNForceATA "test" version, I'm not sure if thats fixes ATAPI burning, I think it was never fixed.
The AppleNForceATA from darwin-ata is based on a source older than "test" version, but fixes 4GB+ kernel panic errors AFAIK. For IDE you can try DarwinATAport.kext, I got no troubles with it including burning, but its limited to PIO4/UDMA2, I'm not sure if medevil's kext is better or same... |
