Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0M017G Within System Info under Graphics, it says Quartz Extreme Not Supported. I downloaded OSXTools and enabled Quartz Extreme, however, upon restart it did not enable it when I checked Systen Info again. I then downloaded EFIStudio and my video card was not even listed so I didn't do anything with this. I have a 9500 and I believe the highest it went to was a 8600 or 8800. I then downloaded NVInstaller 9f23Installer.pkg and installed "Vanilla." However, I have no idea what to do from here. This did not help. Please lend a hand. I am new to MAC so you directions may have to be fairly detailed. Thanks |

I have the exact same card as you and i made it work through efi string. I used Universal installer, apply efi string for video card, - Select custom Nvidia and click install. -It will ask you for the name and the what kind of config it has.. like RAM.. Choose DVI- DVI.. That's it, it will add the string to your boot plist automatically... Good luck |
Okay, so I downloaded Universal Installer (UIInstaller) from PCWiz, opened it and clicked on the "Apply EFI String for Video Card" box and selected custom NVIDIA. It then prompts me for my card name, I entered "Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT," selected 1024MB (1GB) VRAM size and DVI-I /VGA.
When I go to System Info, it still appears that it is not working. See below SyncMaster: Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz Depth: 32-Bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported QuartzGL: Supported Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected There is an option to select VGA / DVI-I, I am not sure how this is different than DVI-I /VGA. Do you have any insight? I believe I followed your directions to the "T." |
Should this work with my 512 mb card as well?

ok, I have Dvi-Dvi configuration so maybe it is different from yours. You will probably have to enter your card NVCAP selecting custom in the end. Do a google search to find out how to get your card NVCAP.. .

I figured out how to obtain the NVCAP, you have to go onto Windows, download a tool like NVFLASH, then boot into DOS upon startup and write the ROM file to your bootable floopy / USB drive. Then, you take the ROM file into OS X and get a program like NVCAP MAKER to read the NVCAP. Unfortunitly this did not work when I entered it into custom mode within OSX86Tools or Universal Installer. Many people have had luck with this approach. Instead, I modified a file which solved the problem, now I have full QE, see through post 82 within the following thread: http://www.infinitemac.com/f5/quad-core-anyone-t2968/
