And will I have to run Marvins utiliy for the updates. I did read the threads in the various forums that mentioned software updates after EFI. I had a perfect 10.5.2 install and like a dumbass ran the video card update from Software Updates which resulted in a kernel panic. I know there probably was a way to fix it, but I will reinstall later.

With an AMD machine, you will always have to patch cpuid's and decrypt files with Marvin's utility for udpates.

Interestingly I was able to install Canon MP830 Pixma Printer Drivers, and a couple of other updates without needing to patch with Marvin's utility.

Some minor updates won't cause problems. It is the major ones like graphics, most of the front row/quicktime/itunes. And any including security fixes, kernel updates.

and those I assume I have to apply Marvin's utility, right?

If you copy these 2 files to your drive.
boot with -s
Code:

cd /directory you put them in
./patcher ./cpuid-graphics.txt

then exit all will be good.

What will this do?

This will patch the system for crencom to fix his graphics update. he will also need to remove the Geforce/NVDA kexts and reinstall with whatever he was using prior to applying the patch.
