EP45-DQ6 and ALC889A
I have successfully been able to install Snow Leopard on a EP45-DQ6 motherboard but I am having trouble getting sound to work. I tried patching the DSDT file with the ALC889A codec but that doesn't do anything. Has anyone been able to get it to work? I know I require a LegacyHDA kext but I don't know which one I need to get for my sound card.

Hey how did you menaged to install on EP45-DQ6? is there any guide and files/kexts spesific to this board?
|
I hope its okay to post link to Insanelymac here. This is the guide I followed:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=181903 I had to make my own DSDT file though. If you look on Insanelymac, there is a guide that shows you how to create a DSDT file in Windows. There's an app called ACPI Patcher (I think). It was very straight forward. |
Thanks for fast reply and a last question if you don't mind:
Is everything working fine on EP45-DQ6 using this method? Like sound, ethernet etc? Is there anything spesific/different i should know about the process? Thanks again |
I was not able to get my 9800 GT video card to work with DSDT file. So I had to use EFI string for it. As for the sound, I have not been able to get it to work correctly yet. But it seems a lot of people with ALC889A sound are having problems getting it to work on SL.
Sleep works just fine for me but the only thing is that I cannot wake the computer using mouse/keyboard. I have to press the power button to bring it back up. I guess its not a big deal. |
full 5.1 surround sound for the ALC889a ^_^
http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/guide...urround-t3746/ stop before Part III if you dont want 5.1 Surround. |
Will give that a try and see if it works. Thanks.

Hey, i used the 5.1 method and it works like a charm, thanks to all :) But my microphone doesn't work. It works on leopard plugged into red port. It doesn't on Snow Leo. I can see BuiltIn Line Input (source is Line), and Built In Microphone Input (source is None).
Is anyone successfull usin the mic? Thanks (PS: I've tried the other empty ports. Still no luck) |
