AMD Desktop PC Help!
Hey guys,
So I have honestly been trying to install OSx86 on my pc for quite some time now... I seem to get no help whatsoever so i turned here to this friendly forum... I have a HP m8100n Desktop PC. I have the Nvidia GeForce 6150 video card that came with the pc but also have the ATI Radeon x1050 videocard in the pci slot.... Specs: AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5600+ NVIDIA nForce 430 3072GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM memory DDR2-SDRAM NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics with TurboCache with 128MB dedicated graphics memory. Up to 623MB Total Available Graphics Memory as allocated by Windows Vista® + ATI Radeon x1050 in PCI slot I would love to dual boot windows 7 + OSX SNOW LEOPARD but any version of osx would be great! Please help! What are the steps I need to take and what version of osx should i look into.... Should i change video card out? |
i have the same chipset and amd x2 type processor. i used iatkos v7 to install, then snow from inside it.
iatkos v7 has nvsata which you need..assuming you have a sata hd. i use a 8500gt for video, but I would imagine you can get it working with a driver that is included on the dvd, or go with basic vga and work from there. boot the dvd with kernel=voodoo if you get the iatkos v7 dvd and can;t figure out what to select for your board to get it to just boot, lemme know and i'll check what i selected specifically and let you know. since I have basically have an identical system to you except for video card, i can guarantee the iatkos v7 will work. get that up, then work on snow. You only need leopard running, nothing special. ohh and when installing you might wanna flag for only 2 gigs of memory, i think its mem=2048 |

For windows, what I did was partition to have 2 empty partitions before the windows NTFS partition, one being 20 gigs, and the second with 250 gigs for snow leopard ( I have a 1tb drive, you can make your snow leopard parition obviously alot smaller, whatever you want It needs at least 10 for either for just the install and enough room to download whatever. The first partition I installed leopard with the Chameleon bootloader. The second partition I installed Snow Leopard with Chameleon RC3. If I remember correctly this is what I choose. You might need to modify it. such as if you have an ati video card, you wouldn't be using natit. Bootloader Quote:
