Empire EFI for AMD Processors (Experimental/V1.08 by nawcom) -- This is an experimental version for AMD processors to enable them to use Retail Snow Leopard installation disk. However keep in mind that if you have more then 4GB of RAM installed , please remove some RAM and be sure to have less then 4GB of RAM otherwise you’ll run into some problems. There are some known issues with Empire EFI for AMD processors. |
This looks very based on Boot Think. I'm all for choice, but I hope this isn't yet a branching that will be abandoned after a version.
|
It would be a bad choice indeed considering Boot Think has no public source code and the author doesnt seem to have any plan to publish it.
|
Believe it or not , its entirely Chameleon with netkas' PC_EFI 10.4/10.5. I don't use closed source stuff. I'll be writing a guide later on how to make your own boot-132 disc for your motherboard and stuff :P
If you want the easy way out , give BootCDMaker a shot. A pretty good tool to make your own bootable "boot think" I don't use those chinese closed source stuff anyway :P - Chameleon and pc_efi = harmony |
I'm liking this as I sold my old rig and am currently piecing together a new x58/i7 based one and I would like to get away from the "install from Leopard" approach. Not only does it require you to install 3 times to get permissions repair right (last time i checked, it's been awhile), but it's not very good if you want to boot from the install disc to repair you startup drive. Pretty interested in the x58 beta you've got on your site.

Can't get Empire EFI to boot
I get a "Non System Disc" error message. Any thoughts?
|
Empire EFI is now updated to support AMD! Thanks nawcom and prasys!
|
What exactly that means?
We are able to boot from retail DVD and install SL without any patching or tricks? Does it also mean patched kernel is not needed when this loader is used? |
So does this mean that the mach_kernel placed in Preboot.dmg does On-the-Fly Opcode patching?
|
@Imkantus
It looks like it.. Wow, I wonder what kernel they used |
