Video card question...

My onboard video card an ATI x4200 HD is not supported on my new build, so the question is can I use a PCI-E video card that is supported on my PCI-E slot instead of the onboard, I know this should work, but I wanted to know if I can use it as my main display or not?

Thanks man, The whole project has been halted due to that video card problem, now I can get my rig done now, Still debating on either to water cool or air cool , I wanted to get my AMD Phenom 2 x4 965 Black Edition to go to 5Ghz.
