iAtkos S3 on Acer Aspire 5810T
Hi, everyone, after some good and encouraging results with iAtkos v7 now I'm trying to install from the iAtkos S3 dvd.
I had a succesful install and then added some extra kexts, everything was going fine. However, after applying the screen resolution patch at the next reboot it shows a gray screen for a while then a black box saying "the system needs to reboot" in several languages. I restart the system as suggested and I'm catch in a loop. I followed the screen resolution fix as explained here:www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=173338 Any suggestion? maybe I used the wrong patch? Thnx |
The screen resolution fix reported above worked after a new install...
Now it simply works fine :) TESTS THAT PASSED: - USB generic drives - USB Huawei HSDPA Internet key - Screen resolution (not accelerated, needs a specific driver, maybe in the future?) - Memory card reader - CD/DVD read - Ethernet (thnx 2 Raditude on the other thread, the AtherosL1cEthernet driver taken from http://code.google.com/p/iats worked fine only after install with kexthelper utility) - USB wireless lan adapter (Zylan driver) - Battery/Power monitor - Power management (not sure, how to check this?) - Bluetooth (Fn+F3 works to turn on/off...but when turning on it takes 15-20 secs to initialise. Connection to phone works, UMTS modem not tested yet) - Audio output works (mic input to be tested) TESTS THAT FAILED: - Webcam (in Leopard it worked, so I'm missing some driver) - Wireless on-board adapter (solved with an usb adapter I had unused in a drawer ;) ) it's probable there's a driver somewhere over the rainbow... - DVD playing (hardware not found) - Photo boot utility (same as above) NOT TESTED: - Mic input / recording - Any suggestion or enhancements? |
Awesome, I'm gonna download that now and see if I can get it working on mine.
Did you burn it to a disc or can you just mount it once you're already in the previous install of Leopard? I'm outta discs at the moment. |
I'm following you guys closely, raditude, let me know if you get wifi working on either version.
|
Awesome dude. No WiFi yet, but this dude at Project Camphor is working on them. I tried a beta version from kexts.com, but it kernel panicked my computer, and I had to reinstall.
Anyway, I'm trying to upgrade my installation to Snow Leopard. I don't have a blank DVD, so I am trying to install from an external hard drive. I get a kernel panic when trying to boot iAtkos S3 v2. Here's a pic of the screen: http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h4...00712-0205.jpg Any help, or will I just need to shell out for a disc and burn it to DVD? |
Hi Rad,
I'm checking the screenshot, will post a comment soon... I didn't use v2, my system should be updated later. For the moment I WON'T install system updates, maybe after a full backup. BTW I burned it to DVD and did a fresh install (the previous Leopard had a too small partition, and iAtkos DVD doesn't allow to upgrade, with Hazard it's possible, instead). I'm following the thread with the hope that we get to solve these issues : - wifi driver - video acceleration (it seems that Intel GMA 4500 isn't very accelerated, I notice when the Flurry screen saver runs... :( ) How can I check the 2D/3D video acceleration speed? maybe installing a game? |
You maybe loading some wrong kext... It seems to be related to an I/O device, also you may try to google for the symbols in the stack trace _StartIOKit, _PE_initiokit, __ZH60SKext (from the photo I'm not sure about the spelling)
Or it could refer to a unplugged/disabled (from BIOS) device... Maybe installing from external disk leads to this, I wouldn't know. Could you tell what options you did choose for the install? |
It didn't even get to the installer, it kernel panicked before I could install it.
|
Oh! ...any BIOS setting? I'm trying to boot it from the dvd (S3 v2) and tell what happens...

Panic
Hi Raditude, for your kernel panic try to boot in safe boot (-x) and delete all GMA kext, I have the same problem with my 5810TG ( HD 4330) and when i delete all ATI kext and reboot, it work fine ;)
PS : SOrry for my bad english, I'm French |
