Hi,

I got the 10.5.1 AMD SSE2-SSE3 dvd and tried to install it on this machine:
- Motherboard: ASUS K8VSE-Deluxe
- CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (SSE2)
- Video card: ATI Radeon All-in-wonder 9800 Pro (and ATI Radeon 1600XT if necessary)
- Audio card: SB Audigy 2
- RAM: 2GB
- HDD: SATA (can use IDE if necessary)

I can't even reach the DiskUtility program or menu, the installation reboots after those lines:
...
BSD root: disk0s3 major 14, minor 2
ERROR: Fire-wire unable to determine scurity mode; defaulting to full-secure.
ERROR: Fire-wire unable to determine scurity mode; defaulting to full-secure.

So, I lack information on what's really making it reboot. I doubt it's the fire-wire issue. So I was considering maybe the version I have doesn't support SSE2? Or is it my video card?

I was planing on getting the 10.5.2, but I have limited download per month. If I get 10.5.2, I'm over for the month, so that is why I just wanted a little confirmation from the experts here. I made my homework (2-3 days of web research), don't worry.

My opinion is that my system should be fine with 10.5.2 because of the researches I made, but it's easy to forget a detail in this OS world...
So, any comment? I would really appreciate.
Thanks.

oh really? I read it in the title so I thought it was supported. I'll give .2 a try then.
Thanks for the explanation :)

I changed the kernel for the sse2 one on the dvd and it worked great. Now I'm stuck in disk utility because my HDD is not showing...
