No Volume control

I have creative soundblaster 5.1 x-fi and I can select it in the sound settings as the output but I cannot control the volume. It's always set at max volume. How can I control the volume?

While trying to fix it myself I installed appleADA or some kext that was supposed to work but after reboot I cannot boot, even using nawcom and another boot cd, using any boot commands. Please help! :/

Okay I got applehda.kext removed and I can now boot but I still want to have volume control but do not have it or know how to get it. Can someone help?
