CPU temps and fan readings incorrect on 10.6.7

Hey all!

Have a compaq sr5350f with Intel Intel® 945GC Express Chipset running 10.6.7 snow leopard, motherboard is an ASUS IPILP-LC (HP/Compaq name: Lancaster8-GL6). Graphics working, sound working, ethernet working. Only problem is the cpu temps are not being reported correctly and fan not detected at all.

It's fakesmc.kext that tells the OS this info, right? Or are there other kexts for this?

Thanks.

Yes thats true but the kexts which are needed for that are in older versions from fakesmc in the plugin folder and in newer version they are additional.

If i would be you i will get the newest of it here: http://www.projectosx.com/forum/inde...showtopic=1206

Because i´ve allready seen, that a old version was the reason that it not shows the correct temp.

Cool. I'll give that a try tonight and report back. Question though: Do I need a DSDT for this to work?

Got temp readings to work accurately using fakesmc rev439 and IntelCPUmonitor plugin, both installed in extra/extensions. Fan still not detected but I can live with that.

Which plugins did you install?

Only used IntelCPUmonitor. I wanted to use ACPImonitor and SuperIO (i'm guessing fan speeds are detected by those) but don't they both need a DSDT installed?

Hello,

All mainboards i´ve seen doesn´t need a special dsdt edit but on some you´ve to edit it.

I would just try the other plugins.

What if you have no DSDT at all? My current hackintosh is DSDT free.

Yes sure it works without dsdt too but your system will run much better with a dsdt.
There are some fixes which are only possible with dsdt.

The other thing is you can inject your devices (like Graphicscard or networkcard and so on....) instead of using a kext or bootloader.

For example: I need no special kext or a special bootloader because i fixed everthing with dsdt.

So if you want to optimize your system it would be good to delve into it.

Alright, well I tried both ACPIMonitor and SuperIO. Still no fan speed.
In verbose mode, I noticed that none of the ACPI plugins work with my motherboard.

Going back to the DSDT thing, I wish I knew how to do it... I do notice that while everything works (including full resolution graphics, QE/CI, sound, etc..), I do notice the graphic animations can get sluggish sometimes, especially when navigating through folder grids or when the video rotates when using Facetime.
