I had tested this Leo4all 10.5.2 with netkas kernel, on my Asrock s939 dual sata2 (Uli Chipset with 1 PATA HDD & 2 PATA DVD) mainboard. Boot & install went fine till half of installation, than stoped the dvd-driver, like on the 10.5.2rev2 zeph'release on 997mb or after 11.663 files are copied.

This is new, the formely 10.5.1 & 10.5.2 releases for AMD had no problems. So did you have a tip, whats the problem with 10.5.2?

Now i have tested this release with the ppf1-file, but it also failed. It says that my Volume cannot be written.

I hoping there is nothing wrong with your burner, I mean your DVD drive. I have one crappy SONY DVD drive on my other drive, and it barely reads dvds and copies them fully.

No, burner problem - old jas, myzar, uphuck, tubgirl, zepyroth releases are working ... til zephyroth 10.5.1 .. My normal System is 10.4.11, i only test the 10.5.x releases.

Now with 10.5.2 zeph or eddie it stops mostly after 997mb the installation process - booting from dvd is always fine.

I also tested the ppf2 from eddie yesterday ... no luck. Same broken install like with ppf1 or without.

Success 10.5.2 v2 is installed!

Today i cleaned my AMD-machine and had some time for another test. I pluged the ide-dvd on the slave 1st ide-cable after the ide-hdd ... the upfate was after 30min full working.

So the main change in 10.5.2, like i said in the first post, is that you cannot use 2 differnt ide-channels. Only the first with one hdd ond one dvd will work!

ther was no problem with my burner or something else .... i used the same dvd's like before.

edit: most apps are working, but "about mac" crashes

hi there gafi, to fix 'About This Mac', try the attached AppleSMBios.kext. Backup your old one before though. The latest AppleSMBios.kext by mac.nub doesn't work for me either.

Also, do you have QE/CI (Quartz Extreme & Core Image) enabled? If not, this could be the reason why some applications aren't working.

With QE/CI, every Application should work. At least it does here on my AMD Machine. :)

I also installed zeph-release 10.5.2 v2 with the same configuration, like before leo4all 10.5.2 v2, and i must say it runs perfect, but also "about mac" crashes. But it is the first 10.5 release there i could repair permissions and UDMA after the installation, really nice.

At weekend i will test leo4all 10.5.2 v2 with some kext's from zeph 10.5.2 v2 and the new AppleSmbios from you.

10.5.2v2 eddie tests on weekend i finished, UDMA isn't really working. I had tested this with manually handwritting like in tiger or 10.5.1 releases, no way and also with the files from 10.5.2 incl ppf2 zeph release. Maybe there is something special inside?

10.5.2 zephyroth with ppf2 is the better choice, but i go back to 10.4.11 because the most used, Photoshop & Indesign CS3 are not working, i tried several files from trial to retail-releases ... no way .. the installer fails so i could never complete the install .. always failed.

Youre AppleSMBIOS.kext2.zip i cannot unpack this, first its AppleSMBIOS.kext2.zip.cpgz , after unpacking this its AppleSMBIOS.kext2 2.zip .. and so on, do you use a special unpack programm?
