I am running 10.5.2 Zephyroth install,i backup my system with time machine, everything was working till I deleted the wrong files, and I successfully restored ,but i can't boot into the system, why?
Then i tried another way,i have backuped my system by Disk Utility also, and i restored it,it also can't boot into the system..why? Thanx! |
It hangs at Verifying DMI (what ever it's called)...
|
time machine backups work but you have to manually install the bootloader
|
i install the bootloader by Zephyroth' DVD?But it's also bad!
|
Quote:
you must do this afterwards 1 - Boot with the DVD. 2 - Press F8, then type "-s" 3- type "cd /usr/standalone/i386" 4 - type "dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1 (X is the disk number and Y is the partition number on which you installed Leo) 5 - type "dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1 6 - type "./startupfiletool -v /dev/diskXsY ./boot_v8" |
My partition is MBR?How can it do?
And another question,if i do a backup from Disk Utility, how can i do to let the system bootable? Thanx very much lanxxx! |
for masterboot record
backup from time machine restart with dvd (press key as if you were going to install) from utilites choose disk util and unmount all partitions on osx hard drive, quit diskutil from utilities choose terminal, and then do this type "cd /usr/standalone/i386" type "./startupfiletool -v /dev/diskXsY ./boot_v8" reboot |
And another question,if i do a backup from DMG made by Disk Utility, how can i do to let the system bootable?
Also the same way? |
yes exactly the same

I tried Restoring from a TM backup ones, no luck. The restored OS isnt what it was before trust me. I don't know for Intel but for AMD its a no go.
Good luck anyway |
