Toshiba L305-S5946 success

Used iPC 10.5.6. Had to buy a Belkin USB wireless adapter. Everything else is stock. Works like a charm, sound is awesome and the machine is fast and smooth.

Installed the OS several times now, using many different chipset combos. Each time it hangs, saying it's waiting for the root device. I'm gonna assume this is a chipset issue. The OS does install...

3.4 ghz Intel CPU (single core)
2.5 gigs ram
intel 945 Motherboard (I think it's a 945 with AGP)
250 gig Maxtor ATA (not SATA) HD
Geforce 7600GT 512 megs of ram
Either Audigy 2 SB sound card or...
