VT1708B Asus Sound
Ok guys I'm running O.S. X86 and works ok. I have installed for the Audio VoodooHDA kext and the audio works fine (stereo). But obviously i want the 5.1 audio. My mobo it's an asus M3N78-VM and the chipset audio is a VIA VT1708B. So into my bios I have the option for change the azalia audio to internal or external codec. Internal is for HDMI Audio and internal for VIA or I can choose both of them.
I was tried installing ALC 883 kext but nothing ALC888 and nothing. I was wondering if I just can't choose those kext (ALC) because my audio chipset it's via, not realtek, but the audio is HDA. I've installed ALC1200 and now in the system profile-Audio built-in appers: Intel High Definition Audio: Device ID: 0x10438345 Audio ID: 12 Available Devices: and that's all. Whit only VoodooHDA appears nothing. Now what I can do? |

Hey!
I'm sorry, I have no answer to your question. But I Wonder how you got the Sound working. I have the same mobo and choosed Voodoo Audio during the install of iAtkos, but for me it didn't work. Have you installed it seperately after the installation of OS X? Thank for you help! |

No men, I did it during the installation. Make sure that the kext VoodooHDA are into the kext folder whit the rights permissions. If not you can download the kext here http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php#5 if that doesn't work try whit azalia kext.
If is the same mobo you must have VT1708B sound just make sure that you have that one. If not make me know. Last edited by universeforce; 08-18-2009 at 10:31 PM. |

Hey!
I also installed the VoodooHDA during the installation, but everytime I tried to boot with this, I got an kernel panic. So I deleted the VoodooHDA kext and everything worked. Thanks for your link! I downloaded and installed it, but got this kernel panic again. Now I tried to do a dump with my ubuntu 9.04 live-cd and patch the AppleHDA with AppleHDApatcher 1.20, but the patcher just told me: Quote:
The codec dump is: Quote:

I was tried that too and I has the same result, that's why I don't use the AppleHDA. The kernel panic means that it can't find/load AppleACPIPlatform, not related to VoodooHDA try whit ACPI X86 from installation. For the audio try whit azalia kext.

Mhh... Did not work for me.
I installed iAtkos new and selected "Azalia" and "X86 ACPI". It booted but didn't find any audio device. So I removed the "Apple Azalia Whatever".kext and installed the VoodooHDA 0.2.2 beta. After a reboot I got the kernel panik again. I have an old SoundBlaster Live card somewhere in the deep of my drawers. Perhaps this works... Thanks for your help!! |
