Windows 7 taskbar
Have you seen new taskbar in Windows 7 ? Is it only me or it works just like dock in Mac OS X ?
You can pin programs to it, open them ( opened ones get highlighted ), when we close them, they stay in the taskbar, of course we can unpin them. Actually it`s working very nice. The only difference is that minimalized windows are hidden "inside" the icon of program, not at the right corner like in Mac OS X, which i personally find very convinient. I wonder if Apple will do anything aobut it ? I don`t say that it`s copied concept, but you have to admit that it`s very similar. www.ultimae.com Panoramic music, for panoramic people. I'm no fan of Windows, but the picture of Boomer (Grace Park) is a definite win!

I agree on the ugliness but the cleanness stands out with the taskbar and windows having the same transparency. I also like the minimized windows hidden within the Program's icon. Its a nice touch, but not enough to make me want to install windows. I'll use it in fusion but thats only because my work requires Windows.

I agree too - it doesn`t look very nice, but...it`s still beta, so maybe the look of it will change. but it`s about being usefull - and well, job`s done, new taskbar definitely is 100 times more useful than previous versions.

I for one welcome our buggy overlords...
I love my Macs, don't get me wrong, but at work I'm required to use a PC. After trying the Windows 7 beta, I for one CAN'T WAIT for my employer to start using it. I usually have no less than a dozen applications running at once in order to do my job. With Windows being what it is, it's only a matter of time until one or more of them crash. This wouldn't be a problem except I'm fairly obsessive-compulsive when it comes to what order my programs are launched in, so I can quickly click to the taskbar icon I want without taking to much time to look for it ... Until a crash happens, and the program I had in the middle of my taskbar is now at the far right when I restart it. BIG bummer. Windows 7 FINALLY will let me drag and drop the taskbar around in whatever order I want, so crashes won't be such a big deal anymore.
Yes, I know... this is probably blatantly stolen from OS X, and... I'd rather Microsoft would just FIX the OS so things don't crash to begin with, but... I'll take it! At work, at least. At home, my Macs rule the roost! |
