A8n-sli sound

Well, i figured out a way to install the sound and make it work.

These are the steps one should take in order make the A8N-SLI Premium mobo sound!

1) Update Bios
2) Enable PCIPnP in Bios
3) Enable AC97 Sound in Bios
4) Install Leopard with AC97 kext
5) You will most probably not hear sound coming out of speakers
6) If Yes, exit this thread .. if not read on
7) Click Finder , Applications , Utilities and Apple MIDI tools (the one with piano keys icon)
8) Customize your sound options. either 2ch / 4ch / 6ch and 16bit audio
9) In customise tool ... you can listen to hiss noises set by mac in order to identify the speakers.

FAQ : 2ch audio (2 speakers) , 4ch (4 speakers and sub) .... etc

My Question is ... i managed to make sound work ... but, sometimes the speakers loose their settings. Is there a way how to arrange this ? Anyone's help would be greatly appriciated ! 10x

try checking which codec is the integrated sound card.... and install the kexts according to that.. cause i have the same board as you and don't have those issues selecting AC97 audio. maybe you need those HDA stuff.
