noob network problem

Hello everyone,

First of all i wanna say thanks to lawless for the awesome 10.5.4 release, before this release i tried many others, and had loads and loads of problems, this was just perfect for me (especially because of the 3650 ATI driver). First release that works out of the box on my config (sound, accelerated graphics....)

I must say that i'm quite a MacOS (or any non-windows OS ) noob, so please keep that in mind while reading my question

Here goes...

I'm running LawlessPPC 10.5.4 release, on a Gigabyte M61SME-S2L (ALC662 sound, MCP61 LAN controller - phy: Realtek RTL8201CL/CP) board.

Dunno why (probably becasue i'm Mac noob) i can't setup my network from Mac - although when i was running some other releases (10.8.4) on VMWARE Intel emulated network everything worked out of the box - didnt have to setup anything)

Problem is in my system profiler under network i see only some kind of a serial port, and when i try to add another service (ethernet) from the Network part of the System Preferences everything is grayed out, i can't choose Ethernet...

Probably because i cant setup the service i also cant find a spot on the MacOS to change parameters like IP Adress, try enable/disable automatic DHCP and other network setup.

I must point out, that during the instalation i clicked: 'My computer does not connect to the internet' because i was kinda paranoid of automatic registration or something like that...(Is this the step where i blew it? can it be setup only from instalation?)

And when i was on that option i choose Ethernet first just to check out if there are some config options, and i actually did see a screen where u can enter some network config information (IP, etc...) but i canceled out of that and chose 'don't connect' option.

Can anyone direct me to anything i can try to set up the internet?

Thx in advance, and ty once again for a great release.

try install this ethernet kext using Kext Helper b7 and hopefully it should help. i think the problem is you dont have the correct ethernet kext so your onboard ethernet is not being detected. (This is for an nForce LAN Motherboard) with which a little google search i found out this is what you have.

hope it works
