I too suffer from this problem but only if I have the onboard IDE controller enabled within the bios. If I switch it off my machine boots very quickly without that error. I think its an nforceATA problem on some machines that use a mixture of SATA and IDE controllers. Is your machine using an nForce motherboard?

Yes, I have had the same problem for a long time.

Strangely enough, if I don´t have any USB-things connected to my machine it takes about 5 minutes to boot, but if I have my usb-mouse & keyboard, or usb-wifi, or something like that connected(this trick doesn´t work with all USB-things, just some of them), then it takes 1 minute and 10 seconds. :-S
But I still get that iokit timed out problem.

I´m using a Acer Aspire 5104wlmi hackbook... I don´t really have any bios-settings except for a choice of a startup-disk...
It has a ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 chipset, S-ATA disk... and I am currently using an AppleATIATA kext which I found in one of the threads here on infinitemac...

I don't know if the mothercard used nForce, i suppose !!

It's only IDE so i can't disabled it ...

I will post here the technical characteristics this evening at home. I'm at work now.

I will try with an usb mouse too ...

Do you have any PS2 mouse or keyboard?

If not, try renaming this file:
Code:
/System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext
to
Code:
ApplePS2Controller.kext.bak
- or simply delete it.

then delete
Code:
/System/Library/Extensions.mkext
- and reboot.

good luck!
