Hey, I threw the new release into my computer and low and behold... not much happens.

I have two IDE hard drives to try, a quantum fireball cx 20gb, and a Maxtor D740X-6L 20gb.
I usually run an xp on a SATA drive, which i always unplug before trying any of this osx stuff.
I ran CPU-Z, and I got this information about my a1250n computer:
http://www.geocities.com/sweebezhtml/cpuz.htm

1. When i put in the Quantum Fireball, I just get the "Still waiting for root device" error over and over.
2. When i put in the Maxtor, I get one "root device" error message before it continues right on into the osx install screen; the disk boots all the way to the Disk Utility screen, wherein the drive is not recognized for formatting.

Both disks are set as masters and are unformatted.
There is only one disk connected to the pc at a time.

Can you fix either of these issues?
Thanks!

Zachary

Can you load back into Windows and get your Device/Vendor ID's for you ATI IDE/SATA controller? When your trying to install do you have the other ports on the motherboard disabled?

I'd absolutely love to do both of those things for you, but I havent the slightest idea how to do the first, and if by disabled you mean 'are there any other disks plugged in to your computer' then no, there are not. I'll do absolutely anything you ask me to, but I haven't the slightest idea how to start that.

You would need to enter the BIOS of your motherboard and disable your SATA ports, and any IDE ports not in use. They are usually under onboard device configuration or something similar.

well i've been messing with this stupid computer for days now, and I disabled my sata port and everything...
I've given up on using the Quantum Fireball drive, as it was pretty old, and am using the Maxtor D740X-6L 20gb exclusivly.

Alright, so I formatted the drive to HFS+ and I boot up and I get to the install screen, but when i go to disk utilities, my drive is not recognized.

I took some pictures of the boot process (sorry, some parts are missing: a few things happened in between shutter clicks):
