Wake on Lan

Hi,

i already tried it wirh different ethernet-cards, but could never get wol to work.

Does anyone have managed to get it working ?

this isnt a mac specific question more a hardware related one. To do it you need to send the magic packet as its called to the mac address of you network adapter provided the card and bios support it. Usually this is done with another utility. I have mine setup so i can wake from my pda as long as i have a internet connection then log in to my machine with remote desktop. One of the most usefull things ive ever set up

Hi LawlessPPC,

i know what to do to wake up a PC/Mac via WOL. The problem I have is, that you need to set an option in the system-preferences to enable wol. I have this option on my MacBook Pro and can wake it without any problems. On my Hackitosh the option does not even appear. As i mentioned, I tried it with three different ethernet cards and I have set WOL enabled in Bios ...
