Yep, that's right. Don't expect that PC hardware is the exact the same hardware than the one Apple is using. Maybe if possible comes an firmware upgrade for your gfx card on Apple Software Update (like for my Radeon HD2600XT) and you'll install it blindly you may crash it. In case of the Radeon HD2600XT is the Apple's Flash ROM twice as big because it has to hold the EFI and the gfx card's fimware. The OSx86 based kernals and Extensions are often much better adapted for PC hardware than Apple Retail software. And if they may appear problems with Chameleon and so on...
By the way, I think it's really impolitely to announce that you're leaving the OSx86 scene. Haha, thanks for having a nice time and all the work you did for me, but now I don't need you anymore. No good style ![]() 2 Opteron systems: OSx86 10.5.8, Andy's 9.8.0 kernel, Asus A8N-SLI Premium, Opteron 185 o'clocked @ 2 x 2,95 GHz (2nd system 2.6 GHz), ATI Radeon HD2600XT 256MB Dual-Monitor 2x HP L2035, 4 GB RAM, Griffin FireWave as main audio device, Marvell + nForce LAN, Asus U3S6 USB3/SATA6 card, 5,5 TB harddisk, Firewire 800 card, Apple Remote + eHome IR receiver, 2x Wacom serial graphics tablet, Canon Pixma iP4700, Logitech Internet Navigator wireless keyboard/mouse combination. a quick word of advice i thought the same as you when i bought a p35 board, supposedly the best board for hacks and none of the online tutorials actually worked like they had said, it was only after the very kind and generous help of Milanca that i got it working, so if i was you i wouldnt be surprised if it doesnt work first time.
iMac ::: Mac OS X 10.6.1 ::: Intel Core2Duo 2.93GHz ::: NVIDIA Geforce GT 120 256MB ::: 4GB DDR3 RAM Milanca Project ::: Mac OS X 10.6.1 Retail ::: Vanilla Kernel ::: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4GHz ::: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB ::: 4GB DDR2 RAM ::: GIGABYTE GA-EP35C-DS3R |
