Hardware RAID
I built a hackintosh machine using a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R motherboard and the lifehacker guide.
My machine seems to be slow. What I mean is it seems to hit the hard drive pretty hard when I do anything and I wait for the drive. I understand that everything loads from the hard drive but it is noticeable compared to my Windows desktop that has close to the same specs. I would like to speed it up by using hardware RAID. The reason for this post is that I cannot find any great information about what RAID cards Mac OS X supports. I have a Dell PERC 5/i that would be great to use (once I get a motherboard with 2 PCIe 16x slots) however, I have no idea if it's supported. So does anyone have any recommendations for a bootable RAID setup for a hackintosh? My machine specs are below: Gigabyte - GA-EP45-UD3R E5400 2.7 GHz (to be replaced by a q6600) 2 GB Kingston Hyper-X memory XFX 9800GT 512 MB Video Card 1 1TB WD 7200 RPM WD10EALS Hard Drive 💡 Deploy cloud instances seamlessly on DigitalOcean.
