no go on a toshiba P500 core2duo

Hi All,

well I thought I would step out of windows and try a different operating system and Have spent all day trying to load snowL onto my satellite P500 core2duo laptop but I dont think the hardware is usable..... anyone else been successful in loading it onto this laptop?

I have tried with bios defaults on and also everything disabled and variations in between....

I have used a boot installer cd first and sometimes that will get me to the "select" a hard drive to load the os onto but ther are no hard drives to select.

I have tried using the snowleopard dvd and the F8 key with -x -f- s -v which ends up with a message "still waiting for root device" whch just keeps on going with new lines

Any help for someone who has no knoweledge of what he is doing??? and at 60 not too clever with this stuff
