Eddie, you seem to have the biggest brains around here and make alternative kexts so here goes.
I still have the ALC850 6/2 channel bug and hope you can write an alternative kext for it. Problem is that whenever I boot Logic or Garageband the audio app sets channels to 6 instead of 2. That would not be irritating if it would actualy still output audio through my 2 front speakers. I seems to randomly switch channels since the ALC850 is 8 channel and OSX only recognizes 2. There's also a thread on Insanelymac about this (if you want I'll paste the link) If you could somehow make Leo only recognize 2 channels or a way to block the other channels settings, then that would be great. Alright on to the next issue. I'm using a POD XT Live USB 1.1 device with my guitar hooked up. This one works very well in Logic but after about half an hour or longer I get dropouts. I think I have lots of dropouts whenever I have used the net. Now I know when doing audio it's a bad idea to use net and if you can tell me if its indeed net related then I will have to look no further and look for a solution. I dont think its a Latency issue since it buffers at 256ms no porbs during the first hour or so. ALSO and maybe more important I get dropouts from my midi USB 1.1 keyboard (m-audio evolution mk461c) I'm playing and then all of the sudden the keyboard goes dead untill I trun it off and back on. Then it reinitializes it and the midi data is sent again. 3rd problem is with Firewire. I recently bought an Presonus Inspire 1394. It works for audio playback but whenever I plug in my guitar I get electrical noises every few seconds (kind of looped) This happend plugged into my Audigy 2 ZS FW port so I bought an ASUS A8N SLI Premium board with the FW Texas Instruments chipset (seems to be recommended for use with FW aduio devices) but I get exactly the same issue. Could this be Video/Nforce related? PCi latency or some kind. This does not happen in Windows Vista on Sonar 7 so it's OSX related. I would love to use OSX86 for DAW but so far I have way too many issues to rely on it. Thx for the help in advance and hopfully you can work something out bro If you need more info then just shout alright, Laters ![]() Snow Leopard 10.6.7 Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P Intel Q6600 @ 3Ghz Corsair CM2X2048-6400DHX Gigabyte HD5770 Silent Cell Samsung SyncMaster 2494SW ALC889a Creative T5400 5.1 Maxtor 380215AS Pioneer DVR-215D Presonus Inspire 1394 KRK Rokit 5 Wacom Bamboo One SL USB Guide => http://www.infinitemac.com/f57/guide...k-drive-t3705/ |

Funny, I have the same chipset for my audio so you may be in luck. I think this is the right one, give it a try.

Hi Eddie,
This did not fix it but it gave me SPDIF for output (not needed but nice to see it added) I have made a vid clip showing the isse. While loading Logic or Garageband the audio/midi config app switches to 6channels. Try it out bud, everyone should experience this issue. Ok have you tried adding an aggregate device for the 6 channel setup and forcing it back to 2 channel? it might work/worth a shot. Open up the Audio Midi setup in utilities. Click up in the top bar on audio and Open Aggregate Device Manager. Make a new Aggregate for 4 channel and one for 6 channel. Then select the properties of each Aggregate Device and Change the Audio Output for each Stream Back to 2 channel. I don't currently have Garage band installed to test myself.

I don't quite get it but do you mean like the picture attached?
I've selected the correct speakers and stereo for speaker config output. And I've tried using the AC97 and aggregate dev as default device, no dice. But I could have it set wrong, if so, my apologies and please explain a bit more (is that even possible lol?) Also, selecting 2ch is a lot louder then 6ch even when 6ch are set up for Stereo and with speakers 1 & 2 (same as for 2ch) Oh now wait a minute, I'm using this small app made by someone from insanelymac board to switch my channels back to two. It's attached too so you will know what I mean. But this app probably sets the volume to max (not main volume) hence the difference when switching. Cause when I switch from 6 to 2 channels inside the audio/midi config app there is no difference in volume. I'll try some more things. ok down at the audio out portion of your screenshot click where you see the 6-ch/16-bits and change that to 2, also edit the aggregate and remove the input from it. leave that one separate.
