Problems booting to install DVD on Dell XPS M1330

I've got the same problem on all 4 OSx86 distros I've tried (iDeneb 1.5, iATKOS v7, iPC 10.5.6 and Kalyway (I forget which version) and all of them get stuck on IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23.

I have tried it with the mach_970 and the voodoo 9.5.0 kernel with no luck. I do have to use the cpus=1 flag or I get a kernel panic regardless of which kernel I pick. I've tried it with and without setting the bus ratio of my processor, with -x -v -f -s and -F flags (not all at the same time) and each one just sits there... I've tried disabling everything I can in the BIOS, with the drive set to ATA and AHCI with no luck.

I'm wanting to do the install to a completely blank drive with no partitions at all.

Here's the hardware I've got in my system:
XPS M1330 BIOS A15
Intel Core 2 Duo T5750
4 GB PC2 5300
nVidia GeForce 8400M GS
120GB Hitachi 5400RPM SATA HDD

I've also tried putting this drive in my Dell Latitude D630 with the same result. Here's its hardware...

Intel Core 2 Duo T7500
2 GB RAM
nVidia Quadro NV135M
Same blank drive as before...
