Can't install iDeneb 1.4 on TA790GX

I'm having tons of problems.

I have tried the DVD Drive as the master and the (IDE) hard drive as the slave, I've tried AHCI, Native IDE, and maybe one more, and I keep getting one of 2 errors. Either I get the still waiting for root device, or there is no spinning thing at all under the apple logo and it just stays on that screen.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mobo: Biostar TA790GX
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9850 black edition quad core
Chipsets
North Bridge AMD 790GX
South Bridge AMD SB750

Hard drive: old 30GB IDE
IDE DVD Drive
4GB DDR2 Ram

I also have an IDE->external hard drive converter thing and that doesn't work either. Nor does my external DVD Drive.
