OK so I've got a couple of questions, all concerning the installation of the newly released 10.5.2 Rev.1..
Just a couple of days after Christmas, I bought myself a few new parts for my aging desktop computer. The "new" computer consists of: GFX: ATi Radeon HD3870 CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4800+ MB: MSI K9A2 CF-F Chipsets: SouthBridge: ATi SB600, NorthBridge: AMD 790X Memory: Kingston, 1Gb HDD: Western Digital 120Gb IDE It takes about 5-7 minutes to boot the DVD (!), and when installing, it says "About 5 hours and 21 minutes remaining". It doesn't really take that long, but it at least takes 3.5 hours to install it. That combined with the "4 minutes remaining"-freeze bug, it gets really frustrating.. What is wrong? I have not had this issue (long time boot/install) with my old MB.. Another thing is, as mentioned earlier I have an ATi HD3870, so which drivers am I supposed to install for it? I recall reading somewhere that I need to select both the HD38x0 driver _and_ the 3800/2900/2600/2400 fix.. Is this correct? Lastly, this EFI thing, is there anything I need to do before installing Leopard with the "EFI MBR" option? Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad English :P |
