Heya,

I just picked up this laptop myself. I've swapped out the wifi, and am planning on loading up snow leopard this weekend. Could you be kind enough to posts the kext's that you used for your installation.

Also have you tried this kext for your realtek card? I've read around and it seems to be working pretty well. Replace your dsdt.dsl in /Extra with the one in the zip file and put the ALC662.kext in /Extra/Extensions. Rebuild the Extensions.mkext in /Extra (if your using Chameleon 2).

Cheers

Ryan

Asus K40IN-X1 - Still wating for root device - devfs_kernel-mount: f

Hi,

I'm a newbie and I was trying to install Snow Leopard in my new Asus K40IN-X1 laptop. I downloaded the Asus K50in bootCD v2 and I followed the steps installing from an original Snow Leopard DVD. In the first try I received the "Still waiting for root device" message so I booted the CD with the -x -v parameters and the installation began. According to the installer, the installation was successful. However when the system restarted, the error "devfs_kernel_mount: f " appeared in the screen and the boot process halted. I searched in google and in the forum and I changed the SATA configuration from "Enhanced" to "Compatible" but I'm still stuck in the "Still waiting for root device" error. What's the next step to follow to make a successful installation?

Thanks

Panic help

hi guys,

I used the snow installer provided here with a snow leopard iso restored on my pendrive. then I copied the extra folder from here, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...topic=210118ot made the booter into the ASUS-K50IN/K40IN-BootCD v2.

managed to get to the boot screen and pressed enter to get the installation started. It started reading then this happend.
What could have caused this ? Im using a Asus K40IN.
thanks...

Rewrite the #1 post

I think it's time you should rewrite the #1 post, flip
One for 10.6.8 and another one for 10.7.
And have you finished downloading Lion GM?
I'm a novice, but very excited about Lion

Hello Ryan,

first off, let me tell you this laptop is as vanilla as you can get with hackintosh after swapping the wifi out second, i dont think i am using any dsdt, if so i cant seem to find it on my hard disk even with show hidden files script. I updated it to the latest bios from Asus (219 i think) and it seems i dont need dsdt anymore Will try this kext out and report back. For installation look at my first post about the USB install method, i am gonna upload the kexts, com.apple.boot.plist and SMBIOS.plist somewhere for you to try

Cheers
