Install help with a Gateway DX4300 series

I've been trying to get this setup to work for days and I haven't had any luck. I've gotten somewhat far with a retail SL disk but I hang up on AppleUSBOHCI[(0xstring that varies)]::CheckSleepCapability - Controller will be unloaded across sleep and then still waiting for root device endlessly. I tried using a kext to fix the still waiting for root device but that led to a CPU halted error. DSDT patching fails also when I tried it from inside Leopard Force compile emits 175 errors. I've also tried using a 10.6.2 Patched release but that always kernel panics when the installer tries to reboot and loading the os again gets stuck on the appleusbohci/root device error. Anyone have any luck with this system or one with similar specs?
