cd-rom not recognized

Just resurrected an old ASUS P4 board using iATKOS 4.a. It now has leopard 10.5.4 running on it. Everything works except the CD-Rom that was in the box I installed the mobo in. The bios sees it and I've booted iBoot with it but the OS won't see anything if put in a disc. Is there a generic kext like MS's generic driver?

Is that an ATA or SATA drive ?
