It looks like you have Intel 945G Express chipset: http://support.dell.com/support/edoc....htm#wp1052310
Place your install disk in your PC. Do you see a single file on the disk or are there a few files and folders? We want to make sure that you burned the DVD from the image and did not just burn the image file on to the disk. Press F2 on startup and enter the BIOS. Make sure that your DVD drive is set as a boot option. Good catch. His other thread was locked because of his one-liner answers. I'm hoping the reason is that he didn't realize what he was doing and made the error you mentioned above. Good thinking.

So that I am on the same page. You want to install OSX from the iPC DVD to an external usb harddrive?
Did you check the Disk like I mentioned in the previous post? If you have access to a MAC you can use Disk Utility's Restore function. You plug the hard drive in and insert the Install DVD and you can use Disk Utility to restore to the external hard drive. Then you can boot the drive provided your motherboard supports booting from USB.
